Ordre l'Ecole

Awarded to all cadets that graduate from the Ecole du Mars.

Honneur Sabre

Ordre du Commandant l'Ecole

Awarded to all officers that have acted as training officers at Ecole du Mars.

Médaille Militaire (Military Medal)

This medal is awarded to an officer of the Grand Army upon their first victory over an Allied opponent.

1st Victory

Ordre de la Confédération de Rhin

This order is awarded to all officers that command a Confederation Regiment (non French) within the AdR and have two major victories over any Allied army.

Etoile Militaire (Military Star)

Awarded to officers either upon their first victory in a multiplayer game or achieving five victories over Allied officers.

Ordre de la Courunne en Fer (Order of the Iron Crown)

This commendation is awarded by the Commander in Chief and/or Commander of the Army to officers that have distinguished themselves through exemplary service to the Grand Army or in recognition for special achievement.

Croix de la Valeur (Valor Cross)

Presented to officers that exhibit conspicuous galantry on the field of battle. This may be achieved through outstanding performance in a multi-player game, or achieving ten victories against Allied opponents.

Grandiose Croix de Triomphe (Grand Triumph Cross)

This Cross is awarded to officers that have achieved victories over officers from all four enemy armies (Anglo-Allied, Austrian, Prussian & Russian) in battles over 16 completed turns.

Médaille de Helena de Saint (St. Helena Medal)

Granted for lifelong dedicated and noble service. It is awarded on recommendation from Corps commanders and at the discretion of the Commander in Chief and/or Commander of the Army, after the following requirements have been obliged. The Officer must have participated in ten battles (completed 10 battles) and at some point held a command post for minimum 6 months.

Ordre de Napoleon (Order of Napoleon)

Awarded by recommendation of Commander in Chief and/or Commander of the Army to qualifying Officers that have continued to show self sacrifice over and above the call of duty to there respective Corps/Army. Qualify: General or above,  Must have held a Army/Corps or Army HQ staff position for at least 12 months and also have 5 major victories over Allied Officers.

Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honor)

Awarded to the "bravest soldier', this medal is awarded to those officers that have achieved special notoriety within their respective Corps or Army. It is awarded on recommendation from Corps commanders and at the discretion of the Commander in Chief and/or Commander of the Army. Each Corps commander is limited to one recommendation a month for this reward.


The 'Legion of Honor' is divided into three classes depending on the officers rank and position.

1. 'Grand Cross' : Marshals and current and former Army commanders, this class consists of a larger Cross and a silver star similar to the cross without the wreath, having rays between the angles.

 2. 'Grand officers' : Generals and Corps commanders, consists of a normal size cross and a silver star.

 3. 'Officers' : All others, consists only of a normal size cross with a rosette.

Order of Wearing

It is laid down that French subjects as well as officers in French service shall wear their orders, decorations and medals in a certain sequence on their left breasts, the position of priority being in the center of the chest. The sequence in no way affects the precedence conferred by the statutes of certain orders upon the members thereof. 
The sequence is as follows:
1. Legion of Honor*.
2. French Orders.
3. French Decorations**.
4. French Medals.
5. Foreign Orders, Decorations and Medals in the same sequence as French.


 *) Legion of Honor:
     Grand Cross: The gold Cross is worn suspended on the left hip by a board scarlet watered ribbon passing over the right shoulder, and the silver star is worn on the left breast.
     Grand Officers: The gold Cross is worn on the left breast suspended from a scarlet ribbon, and the silver star is worn on the right breast.
     Officers: The gold Cross is worn on the left breast suspended from a scarlet ribbon with a rosette in the center.

**) Decorations: Generally speaking, anything which is not an Order or a Medal is usually held to be a 'decoration'.

Foreign Medals

Officers once active in foreign service (both former or current allied, neutral or enemy states) under which they have been awarded  medals, orders or decorations, is granted the opportunity to wear these . Captured medals, orders and decorations may however not be worn at any times. Actions of this kind will be looked upon both as immoral as well as unfitting for an Officer in La Grande Armée and will be punished severly.
