What We Are About
|
The ACWGC was formed to play American Civil War computer games
such as the Talonsoft and HPS
(John Tiller's) series of ACW games. Titles include
Gettysburg, Shiloh, Antietam, Chickamauga, Bull Run, Corinth, Ozark, Franklin and
future ACW titles. All level of players are welcome, novice to expert.
A friendly atmosphere is the norm for all. All recruits pass through a training
session. A novice will receive the necessary information to get started and given
the time to learn the games and the club rules. An expert will receive a minimum of
information to start. The excellent staff at
VMI and
West Point
are there to help.
Questions are welcome and many member officers are available to assist.
The ACWGC wishes to provide a military and historical flavor to members. Not a points
ladder club but a way to participate and enjoy the times portrayed. Promotions are
based on quality of play and leadership, not just on the number of games played.
The Club is organized in a General Staff type system with a
"civilian cabinet"
to balance
the pure military perspective. Participation by all members is encouraged to reduce
paperwork and administrative duties.
Role playing is encouraged to portray the natural rivalry and positions of the CSA and
the USA. Friendly banter is encouraged, however rude and antagonistic behavior will not
be tolerated.
Games are organized by opposing Commanders as well as individual challenges and
posting on the discussion boards, primarily the Mason-Dixon Tavern, a fun place to
hang out.
Joining Procedures
To join, go to the Recruitment Center.
A staff Officer at VMI
or
West Point
will organize a game
to get you going right away and ensure that you are familiar with PBEM (Play-By-Email)
and the Club rules. Once the training is successfully completed you will be promoted
and assigned to a Brigade.
Welcome, and most of all have fun.
