Moose Medal for the AoG
New Tech Award given out by the Army of Georgia

The Army of Georgia has a new Medal and Ribbon
in its trophy case to be handed out to desevering Officers of the South. The official name of the award is the “Order
of the Moose” for Technology Solutions and support rendered to the Army of
Georgia.
The genesis of this award lies in trying to
find a suitable way to reward Colonel Larry “Notso” Quick for his many tireless
hours spent helping us to set up our new website, our forums, our new muster
system and countless other duties he has preformed. His behind the scenes technical work has
allowed the AoG to move forward for the benefit of all our officers.
Once it was decided to create an award for
Colonel Quick, we turned to another of the AoG’s invaluable partners, “The CSA
Medal Works, LLC,” for the design and construction of the award. As he has done many times in the past, the
owner and president of the CSA Medal Works, Major General Bob Weir, came
through for us with a unique and imaginative design that captured the spirit of
this award perfectly. We thank all the
good people at the Medal Works for this inspired creation.
The placing of General Moose on the medal
and the ribbon was done as a lasting tribute to Colonel Quick. As many of you know already, General Moose is
Notso’s alter ego and his picture also appears on Co. Quick’s personal
standard.
In addition to presenting this AoG Medal and
Ribbon to Colonel Quick, it was also decided that the award would be a permanent
award for the AoG, to be given out in the future to all whose technical
support of the army exceeds the normal call of duty.
The “Order of the Moose” was proudly presented
to Colonel Quick this month on 9 December, 1862.
